The 2012 Inspiration 100

The 2012 Inspiration 100 is on Saturday, September 8, at 8:00 AM.

The Inspiration 100 is an unsupported 100 mile gravel race through the Leaf Mountain area around Inspiration Peak. The loop starts and finishes in Garfield, MN, which is located 8 miles northwest of Alexandria, MN. There is a convenience store at the halfway point for resupply purposes, and this nice lady at mile 75 for spiritual replenishment.

This event is modeled after the other outstanding gravel events in the Midwest, with a nice mix of terrain, scenery, and challenge. Our goal is to present a race that lets the rider experience the diversity of West Central Minnesota with its rolling hills, lakes, field and forest.

We feel that this is an ideal warm-up to The Heck of the North (scheduled for September 29th) or as a way to dip your toes into the gravel scene. We will strive to offer racers the hospitality, camaraderie, fun and challenge the other Midwest gravel races have given us.

All 100 miles of this event are FREE. Submit a postcard with your name, email address and gender (m/f/none of our business) to:

Inspiration 100
c/o Derek Chinn
115 Willimantic Drive NW
Alexandria, MN 56308

Registration is open July 1st through July 31st. We will take the first 100 riders who submit cards and the rest will go on a wait list. This is a completely unsupported event. You are responsible for yourself.

We look forward to seeing you on September 8th.

  1. Race was awesome! Thank to all!
    Serge Kovalchuk (#51)

  2. Great job on Saturday, Serge! Thank you for coming.

  3. Thanks for putting on an awesome race. Thanks for everything! My husband and I had a great "date day".

    1. Tiffany, you and your husband demonstrated what I have been trying to tell my wife for years: couples really do ride gravel events together. After she saw the two of you finish on Saturday, I am that much closer to getting her to ride Almanzo with me.

  4. Great event and beautiful scenery! Loved the MMRs for the diversion and use of different skills. I hope this great event continues!
